Confirmation Certificate Kathleen Sladden

Communion Certificate for Mary Kathleen Sladden (known as Kathleen) contained in an envelope addressed to May Sladden and Kathleen Sladden:  “With every good wishes – C.G.G.”  These initials stand for Charles Granville Gepp who was Vicar of Badsey from 1887-1897.

The certificate records that Kathleen was baptized on 24th April 1881, confirmed on 1st May 1895 and took her first communion on 5th May 1895.  The Vicar, the Reverend Charles Granville Gepp, wrote a verse from one of the psalms on the card:  “Thy vows are upon me, O God,” Psalm lvi.12.

The photo of Kathleen as a baby was taken in 1881.

The originals may be seen at the Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service, reference 705:1037/9520/9/i/205-207 (certificate); 705:1037/9520/22/iii/5
