Last Resting Place

In recent years, particularly with increase in foreign travel and commemorations in connection with the centenary of the First World War, visits to battlefields and the cemeteries maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission have become popular.  Listed below are the cemeteries where the men of Badsey, Aldington and Wickhamford lay buried (or recorded on a memorial, if no known burial place).  If you are travelling to one of these areas when on holiday, why not take the opportunity to visit some of the cemeteries listed.  We would love to receive your photos of the cemeteries and close-ups of the graves of the men listed on our war memorials.  Please email photos to wickhamford@badsey.net or history@badsey.net.

If you are unable to visit a cemetery yourself and would like a photograph of a specific grave, the excellent War Graves Photographic Project will provide either a glossy print or an emailed high resolution image, for a small fee.  The following comprehensive websites give further information about cemeteries:  Remembering the Fallen and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
