PITMAN, John Thomas (1887-1955) – Labour Corps/Army Service Corps

PS-PITMAN%20John%20Thomas.jpgJohn Thomas Pitman (1887-1955) was the eldest son of James and Alice Pitman.  He was born in Aston Somerville, Gloucestershire, and lived with his parents and sibling at 6 Longdon Hill, Wickhamford, at the time of the 1911 census; this included his younger brother, Wilfred Charles Pitman, who also served during the war. 

John was a market gardener before and after his war service.  He was an absentee voter in 1919 in Wickhamford and this list gives his unit as the 424th Agricultural Company of the Labour Corps (No 502514).  It also mentions the Army Service Corps.
