Mr J Wythen Roberts appeared for William Hayward, licensee of The Royal Oak, Badsey, and a fruit and vegetable dealer. He had previously been granted temporary exemption. He said that at the request of the military authorities he had prepared his club room for the reception of wounded soldiers, but none had arrived yet. He and his brother-in-law had recently bought orchards of fruit, but he would not admit Mr Colmondeley's suggestion that he had bought these orchards with a view to getting further postponement.
