Case for exemption
Mrs E Hall & Sons, market gardeners, of Badsey, appealed for Lawrence Richard Knight (18), Badsey, in their employ. Mr Hall said they had 10 acres of land. His mother was too old to do anything on the land. There were also 2 acres of orchard. In reply to Lieutenant Shelmerdine, he said the German prisoners had not arrived at Badsey yet, and then there would be a difficulty for anyone in a small way getting them, and if they did it would be only one or two occasionally.
