Messrs S Johns & Sons, market gardeners of Badsey, appealed for William Sandford, their foreman, and asked for his total exemtpion. They had 32 acres of market garden land as well as other land, and Sandford looked after the glass houses. He has eight children and has worked for the firm for 13 years. They had had four single men join. In reply to Mr Cholmondeley, Mr Johns said Sandford had been foreman six years.

Messrs S Johns & Sons, market gardeners, Badsey, applied for William Sandford (38), foreman, in their employ. Mr Johns said they occupied 32 acres of market garden land, 5 acres of orcharding and 6½ acres of pasture. Sandford was foreman and looked after it when he was absent as frequently he had to be. Sandford was married and had eight children and a ninth was expected. He had been foreman for six years.
