BADSEY WEDDING

Miss Olga Pamela Wheatley, youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs A J Wheatley of Knowle Hill, Evesham, and Mr Michael John Barnard, eldest son of Mr & Mrs J Banrard of Packs House, Bretforton Road, Badsey, were married at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Wednesday.  Full report in our next issue.

WEDDING PEAL AT BADSEY – Marriage of Mr M J Barnard and Miss Olga Wheatley 

A well-known Evesham woman, Miss Olga Pamela Wheatley, who is a member of the Croome Hunt, was married at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Wednesday week to Mr Michael John Barnard.  

Miss Wheatley is the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs A J Wheatley of Knowle Hill, Evesham, and the groom is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs J Barnard of Packs House, Bretforton Road, Badsey.  

Given away by her father. the bride wore a classical gown of gold figured organza over cream taffeta. Her veil was held in place with a circlet of leaves and she carried a bouquet of cream roses, orchids and freesias.

In attendance was Miss Susan Barnard, the groom's sister, who wore a dress of cream chiffon over cream taffeta and a matching headdress. Her bouquet was of freesias. The best man was the bride's brother, Mr J Wheatley. The service was conducted by the Vicar, the W B Chapman, and Mr G Mills was at the organ. 

A reception for 70 guests was given at Wickhamford Memorial Hall after which the couple left for a honeymoon touring Devon and Somerset. The bride travelled in a grey tailored coat, trimmed with black and black accessories. As the couple left the ringers of St James' rang a wedding peal. 

Both the bride and groom were educated at Prince Henry's Grammar School. He is a market gardener and a keen glider pilot and the bride is a former member of Evesham Hockey Club. For the past seven years Miss Wheatley has been employed on the office staff of Messrs T W Beach & Sons Ltd, Evesham, who presented her with an electric fire.
