Wills

Wills are a valuable resource for the family historian.  This section gives details of all people with Badsey, Aldington or Wickhamford connections who are known to have made a will.  A will has to be proved valid and confirmed that it contains the last wishes of the deceased concerning the inheritance of his or her property; this is done in a probate court.

Probate records are thus court records dealing with the distribution of a person’s estate after death. Information recorded may include the death date, names of heirs, family members, and guardians, relationships, residences, inventories of the estate (including trade and household goods), and names of witnesses.
