The wedding took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Monday of Miss Joyce Evelyn Heritage, eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs W J Heritage of 3 Synehurst Crescent, Badsey, and Corporal William Edward Arnold, RASC, son of Mr & Mrs W E Arnold of 16 Doon Street, Liverpool.

The service, which was choral and included the hymns, “The voice that breathed o’er Eden” and “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us”, was conducted by the Vicar of Bengeworth, the Rev F James Wells.

The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a white satin gown with ruched front.  Her headdress, complete with veil, was composed of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of dark red carnations.

The three bridesmaids were Miss Peggy Heritage (sister of the bride), Miss Iv y Grinnell and Miss Jean Haines (cousins of the bride).

The former wore a pale pink net gown, as did Miss Jean Haines, whilst Miss Grinnell wore a pale green gown with net overlay.  All three bridesmaids carried bouquets of pink carnations.

The best man was Private Rees Thomas, RASC, of Badsey.

The reception followed at the Old Schools, Badsey, about a hundred guests being present.  The honeymoon is to be spent in Northern England.

The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many presents.
