Dear Madam

I was very pleased to hear from you and that Mr Cyril is better. I am glad Mrs Arthur has a little girl, I expect Miss Juliet is very proud of it. Our new baby is a little girl. She was born on 23rd August, she is a dear little thing, darker than the other one, her name is Kathleen Mary, the other is Clara Carter. I am busy making her winter bracks. I heard from Willie last Monday. He went back to the front on 29th September, his pal had been killed the day before; he was shot in the head by a sniper. Willie has got a big fellow, he was over 13 stone when he was here in August, he will soon lose some of it now. He has altered him very much, he seems years older than what he is but he is in very good spirits and all alive. I hope they will all come safely through for we never know what we are gaining here one day from another. My sister keeps very well. How is Fanny getting on? Her children are getting grown up. I expect Doris gets a big girl now and useful to her mother. I am glad to say we are both very well. I have sent Miss Ethel Willie’s present address.

Yours sincerely
P E Barnard
