BROADHURST, George Herbert (1898-1983) – Prince of Wales, North Staffordshire Regiment

George Herbert Broadhurst was born in Leek, Staffordshire, a son of Joseph and Mary (nee Titterton) Broadhurst and he was baptised there on 28th August 1898.  At the 1911 census, aged 12, he was described as an ‘errand boy half time’.  He served as a Private in the 4th N. Staffs Regt (No 35825 then No 67301) but no details of his service record have been found.  He was listed on the 1924 Electoral Register in Wickhamford, living at what is now 5 Longdon Hill.  He was working on a farm in Church Lench, Worcs., according to a newspaper report in March 1942 and died in that locality in July 1983.
