SCARDEFIELD, Thomas (Will)

This I declare to be my last will and testament being of sound mind though broken-hearted, I give:

• To George Langridge £475 3½% stock to be equally divided between himself, his daughter Jane, and his son Thomas
• To Thomas Langridge my musical instruments and music books
• To Mary Wilson Mr Grey 1 New Burlington Street, I give I give the stock which I have remaining in the 3½% viz £325 stock as knowing she has taken an interest in my welfare
• To my friends John Grosvenor and Mr Harrington I give £100 each
• My sister requires nothing God bless her I hope she will offer no opposition to this my will
• To my neighbour Edward Wilson I give £20 for the trouble he will have
• To William Collett, Reverend C Bloxham and John Toms of Badsey, I give each £10
• To Mr Charles Drury of Aldington I give £20 to fund him a long time to take charge of the farm ????? will discharge Tandy and put Robert Mason in his place
• To Robert Mason and his mother Sally I give each £5
• To Isabella Robinson I give my late dear wife’s gold chain
• All the rest and residue of my property of what nature or kind soever including my estate at Badsey, £3404 in Russian Bonds, the half part of 12400 3% consols standing the joint names of myself, my sister, Mr Harrington and Mr Field ???? together with any other property to which I might or hereinafter become entitled I give to my late beloved wife’s mother and her daughters Kate, Louisa, Emily, Frances and Isabella Robinson of Maidstone, Kent to be equally divided amongst them and I wish Mrs Robinson to be for her sole use and benefit

I wish to avoid all litigation for this my will to be taken in a …..

Will made:  This is written with my own hand this Friday May 16th 1828.  If I have omitted anyone that I ought to have remembered I hope they will forgive me.  I have always acted up to strict principle of honour and integrity.  May God bless all those who have taken an interest in my welfare.

Executor:  I appoint George Langridge of Murworth my sole executor but will get Mr Field of Throgmorton Street to assist him in finding my funded property

2nd August 1828, sworn affidavit

George Bartrup of High Bodum in the county of Middlesex, Linen Draper and John Field of Throgmorton Street, London, broker, make oath and say that they knew and were well acquainted with Thomas Scardefield, formerly of Lithington in the county of Cambridge but late of Badsey near Evesham in the county of Worcester, gentleman

Proved at London 9th August 1828 before the Worshipful Judge Addams, Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of George Thomas Langridge in the will written George Langridge the sole executor to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
