BADSEY SOLDIER’S DEATH

Lance Corporal George Alfred Hall, second son of Mrs A C Hall and the late Mr Hall of No 1 Silk Mills, Badsey, has received fatal injuries while serving with his unit in the West of England.

He had been a member of the Territorial Army for the past five years.  He leaves a widow, with whom much sympathy is felt.

The funeral takes place at Badsey today (Friday) at 3.30 pm.

L/CORPL G A HALL’S FUNERAL

The funeral of Lance Corporal George Alfred Hall, second son of Mrs A C Hall and the late Mr Hall of 1 Silk Mills, Badsey, took place at Badsey on Friday.  He was fatally injured while serving with his unit in England.

The funeral was accorded full military honours.  Members of the Home Guard lined the road leading to the church and at the graveside at the conclusion of the service, the “Last Post” was sounded by a bugler of the RASC.

The service was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev Can W C Allsebrook.  His widow and sister (Mrs E Smith) were prevented from attending the funeral owing to illness.

Family mourners were:  Mrs Morris Hall (mother), Messrs Roy Clifford and Basil Hall (brothers), Mr & Mrs Sheward (brother-in-law and sister), Mr & Mrs G Taylor (father and mother-in-law), Mrs Haines, Mrs Watton, Mrs Cook, Mrs Shephard and Mrs Heath (aunts).

The coffin was borne to the grave by eight members of HM Forces, Messrs Long, Johnson, Lullock, Brwn, Foster, Jones, Haytor and Searl.

Many floral tributes were placed on the grave.
