BRETFORTON WEDDING

The Vicar (Rev J H Waugh) officiated at the wedding in the Parish Church on Saturday of Miss Ida Lilian Tomkins, daughter of Mr & Mrs A W Tomkins, and Mr Frederick George Jones, son of Mr & Mrs F C Jones, of 16 Synehurst, Badsey. The bride, who was given away by her father, made a charming picture In white satin. She wore a veil which was held in position with a wreath of orange blossom. Her attendants were the Misses Lola and Peggy Tomkins (sisters) and Grace Jones (sister of the groom).  They wore dresses of turquoise blue crepe and head dresses of golden leaves. The bride's bouquet was of white roses, lilies and carnations. while the bridesmaids carried pink and white carnations, white rose buds and pink tulips. The best man was Mr J Craddock of Pershore. Mrs E Dowdeswell presided at the organ and in addition to playing suitable music as the bridal train entered and left the church, accompanied the singing of the hymns, “Lead us Heavenly Father and "Thine for ever”. Both the bride's and bridegroom’s mother wore green. The Bretforton Folk Dancers, of which die bride is a member, lined the aisle as Mr & Mrs  Jones left the church. A reception was held in the Memorial Hall from which Mr & Mrs Jones left tor Weston-super-Mare, where the honeymoon is being spent. They will make their future home at The Bungalow, Brewers Lane. Badsey. Among the many valuable presents was one from Miss Sladden, of Badsey. the groom's employer, and another from the Bretforton Folk Dancers.
