          Notes
The letter-writer was E G Young who was born about 1880 in England. It is thought that she worked for the Sladden family in the early years of the 20th century. The 1916 Canadian census reveals that she emigrated to Canada in 1907 and worked as a maid in the Sykes household, Cluny, Alberta. Cluny is a hamlet within Wheatland County, located on a Canadian Pacific Railway line, 54 miles south-east of Calgary.
This may have been Elizabeth Young, a 26-year-old Domestic, who sailed to Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 8th March 1907, or possibly Edith Young, a 25-year-old Domestic, who sailed to Montreal, Quebec, in 1907.
