FYNES-CLINTON, Robert
Robert Fynes-Clinton was born on 17th October 1879 at Didsbury, Lancashire, the seventh of nine children of Osbert Fynes-Clinton, rector of Emanuel Church, and his wife Louisa (née Lloyd). Charles Binyon referred to him as his cousin, but the precise relationship is not known. Charles’ mother, Mary Dockray, was connected with the Lloyd family in some way. In addition, Charles’ eldest brother, Jack, married Robert’s sister, Mabel Fynes-Clinton.
At the time of the 1901 census, Robert was working as a machine tool maker’s apprentice and living with his sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Frederick Eyre, in Didsbury.
Robert married Margaret Emma Phillips at Peterborough in 1907. They had a son, Pelham, born in 1910 at Oxton, Birkenhad. They were still in Birkenhead in 1911; Robert was described as an engineer.
Robert died at West Kirby, Cheshire, on 18th March 1962.
