HAMPTON BROTHER AND SISTER WED – At Register Office

Mr William Dennis Clarke, son of Mr & Mrs W Clarke of 2 Church Road, Hampton, married Miss Jean Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Mr & Mrs H Smith of 1 Shor Street, Evesham, and Henry, son of Mr & Mrs J Plant of Synehurst, Badsey, wedded Miss Mavis Clarke, also of 2 Church Bank, Hampton……

In the second ceremony, Miss Clarke was charminghly attired in a black two-piece suit with matching accessories.  She was attended by Mrs James, her sister, who wore a wine two-piece with accessories to match.  Mr James, the bride’s brother-in-law, was best man.

The bride is a native of Evesham and was on the staff of Messrs Smedley Ltd, Evesham.  The bridegroom, a native of Badsey, served for over five years in the 7th Royal Tank Regiment, and saw active service in Normandy, Germany and India.  He was wounded while serving at Bremen.  He is keenly interested in football and during his service in HM Forces was captain of an Army inter-league team, and is now playing at right-back for Badsey Rangers.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the bridegrooms’s home at Badsey, where a number of guests were entertained.  The happy couple, who were the recipients of numerous presents, will make their future home at No 2 Council Houses, Aldington.
