MARRIAGE OF MISS JANE IDIENS – Popular Ceremony at All Saints’ Church

Hundreds of friends and well-wishers thronged All Saints’ Church on Saturday when Miss Jane Idiens, daughter of Mr & Mrs Sidney Idiens of Aldington Lodge, Evesham [sic – actually in Aldington], was married to Mr Peter Michael Price, youngest son of Mr & Mrs George Price of Ford House, Prestbury. The Vicar of Evesham (Canon T Charles Jones) officiated and Mr A M Slatter presided at the organ.

Given away by her father, the bride looked charming in a silver lame chiffon yoke gown with a train.  Her tulle veil was mounted on a headdress of orange blossom, and the bouquet she carried comprised white carnations.

She was attended by Mrs Betty Kaye, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Diana Byrd, cousin of the bride, and Miss Jo Dennett, friend of the bride.  They were all attired alike in dresses of japonica red with small trains.  All wore jackets with three-quarter length sleeves and buttoning down at the back.  They carried white bouquets.  Lieut David C Idiens, brother of the bride, was the best man.

The honeymoon is being spent touring Ireland.  When the bride left, she was wearing a brown and white herringbone dress with matching long coat.  She also wore a bright yellow off-the-face hat and python sling-back shoes and carried a pigskin handbag and gloves.

Well known in the town, Miss Idiens received her education at Lowther College.  On leaving school, she joined the staff at Edith Dennett (Gown Shop), Wilmslow.  During the war she served in the WRNS and when demobilised, returned to Wilmslow.

The bridegroom served with the RNVR in a minesweeper during the war.  On leaving the Forces he joined the staff of his father’s firm, the well-known bakers and confectioners in Manchester and elsewhere.  He is a keen Rugby player.

The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was an enamel bracelet and the bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a pair of gold cuff-links.  From the staff of Frank Idiens & Sons, the bride received a silver fruit dish and from the staff at Edith Dennett, she received an alarm clock.
