Dear Wife,

We are just leaving Stornoway for Portree, (6.50 P.M.) and I will write a few lines to post within another sheet of diary which will recount our doings.

I should not have liked to have you on the boat this morning and I am sure you would not have been happy!  I hope  you will get the box of kippers sent on from here by parcel post, give Brailsford a pair and if you like a pair or so to Mrs Ashwin, the man said they would keep ten days and you will be a fair party now.  I hope Arthur and May are with you.

We ought to reach Oban on Friday evening and we shall of course write from there, we have not yet finally decided upon our plans but propose to stay there over Sunday.

Hope all is going well. Much love to you, dear, and to all the circle.

Your loving Husband

Julius Sladden

I think the wind has moderated a trifle but there is a damp air.
