
FYNES-CLINTON, Arthur
Arthur Fynes-Clinton was born on 25th February 1878 at Sutton on Trent, Nottinghamshire, the sixth of nine children of Osbert Fynes-Clinton, an ordained Church of England priest, and his wife Louisa (née Lloyd). Charles Binyon referred to him as his cousin, but the precise relationship is not known. Charles’ mother, Mary Dockray, was connected with the Lloyd family in some way. In addition, Charles’ eldest brother, Jack, married Arthur’s sister, Mabel Fynes-Clinton.
Arthur was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford, and then became ordained in the Church of England. On 14th January 1913 he married Louisa Caroline Hughes at Bala, Merionethshire. In 1939 they were living in Crickhowell, Breconshire.
Reverend Fynes-Clinton died on 17th May 1961 and was buried in St John Evangelist Churchyard, Tretower, Powys.
