The bride was formerly a member of the Bretforton branch of the Girls’ Friendly Society.  Given away by her father, she looked charming in a dress of white silk moire with wreath and veil.  She carried a bouquet of white carnations and lilies of the valley and was attended by five bridesmaids, Misses Ada, Hilda and Mavis Smith (sisters of the bride) wore dresses of pink silk more with headdresses and shoes.  All the attendants carried bouquets of pink tulips.  The ceremony was conducted by Canon W C Allsebrook (Vicar of Badsey).  Mr C Hall (Badsey) at the organ played the hymns, “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden” and “Lead us Heavenly Father”.  Mr Jack Hartwell Junior of Badsey was best man.  The bride’s mother wore a navy blue crepe marocain dress with white guipure lace trimmings and the bridegroom’s mother a dress of blue silk with accessories to tone.  A reception at the Memorial Hall was attended by 100 guests.  The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a diamond clasp while he received from the bride gold cuff links and tiepin.  His gifts to the elder bridesmaids were gold bangles and he gave the younger attendant a gold signet ring.  The happy couple received a rug from the bride’s employers.
