GUARD OF HONOUR

Members of Badsey Home Guard formed a guard of honour at the wedding at St Laurence’s Church, Evesham, on Saturday of Miss Kathleen Alice Grove, second daughter of Mr & Mrs John Thomas Grove of 35 Merstow Green, Evesham, and Mr Ronald Alan Murray, only son of Mr & Mrs Charles Murray of Bretforton Road, Badsey.  The bridegroom, who is a member o the Home Guard, is a market gardener.  He was at tone time a member of Evesham Men’s Hockey second eleven.  The bride has been employed at Messrs Willmott’s Ltd, Evesham, as despatch clerk for the past 21 years.  She was given away by her brother, Mr Edwin Grove, and wore a flowered dress with a fawn coat and hat and shoes to tone.  She wore a spray of anemones.  The only attendant was Miss Madge Grove (sister), who was attired in a turquoise blue coat and navy blue marocain dress and accessories to tone.  She wore a spray of anemones.  The ceremony was conducted by the Rev T W W Pillifant (Curate), and the best man was Mr Len Mitchell.  Nearly 40 guests attended a reception at the home of the bride’s parents.  The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a rosewood china cabinet and his gift to the bridesmaid was a dress ring.  The bride presented the bridegroom with a brush and comb set.  The honeymoon was spent at Heaton Moor, near Stockport.
