The following official notice was issued Tuesday evening:
“In order that the supplies of petroleum spirit may be devoted the greatest extent possible to war purposes, it is important to effect every possible economy in consumption. It will not be practicable, therefore, to make allowances for spirit for vehicles used for holiday excursions.
BADSEY PARISH COUNCIL
Thursday week.
Present: Mr J. Sladden (chairman), Councillors C. A. Binyon, H.Hall, L.E. Horne, T. Marshall and W.T. Stanford.
Mr J. Sladden was re-elected chairman and Messrs. C. A. Binyon and H. Hall were appointed trustees of the Bread Charity.
Mr W. W. Blake was re-appointed minor local authority manager for Badsey Council School.
BADSEY VESTRY MEETING
The Easter vestry was held in the Old Schoolroom at 8.30 on Tuesday evening, the Vicar (Rev W C Allsebrook) presiding. The churchwardens’ accounts showed receipts amounting to £40 15s. 11d., inclusive of £37 17s. 7d. from church collections. The expenditure amounted to £42 17s. 10d. The collections for special purposes realised £26 8s. 9d. Messrs. J. Sladden and G.E. Jones were re-elected churchwardens and Messrs. A. Sparrow, C.A. Binyon, E .Knight, W. Mustoe, E. Crisp, G.W. Emms, and W. Stanford sidesmen.

BADSEY CHANGE RINGING
A FALSE ALARM
One night this week some people thought the Zepps actually had come to Evesham. On Sunday night, when the atmosphere was very still, a humming noise was audible in various parts of the town; it was in the neighbourhood of 11 o’clock, and it lasted for a quarter of an hour. The writer of this note thought it was a two-stroke motor cycle engine. Apparently the same noise was heard at about the same hour on Monday night, and some misguided people jumped to the conclusion.
DOGS AT LARGE
We are asked to draw the attention of those concerned to the nuisance caused by dogs being at large at night. Now that the streets are quite unlit, it is impossible to see dogs that are at all dark in colour, and some accidents have been caused by cyclists and others running over them. It has for a long time been an offence for dogs to be out after lighting up time unless they are under control. If the police initiated a few prosecutions no doubt the owners no doubt the owners would look after them more carefully.
