My darling Husband,

I will try & write you a few lines this morning so that you may see I am really on the mend though it is very slow.  Dr Paul came this morning & was quite pleased with my progress, he says I may get up for an hour this afternoon but not to overtire myself in any way or it would put me back.  My appetite is improving & I mostly get good nights now & there is very little cough.  Tell Juliet I have two sweet little black kittens lying on my bed she would love them; I hope her cough is getting better, I am so glad she is bright & well now.  Jack comes down this evening, it will be nice to see him & I hope the change will do him good.  Ethel will be glad to have some one to have her meals with & go for a few little walks, though I am afraid I can’t spare her for any long excursions, I can’t stand being left long alone for any length of time.

Thank you for the asparagus, I have enjoyed two lots of it already & Mrs Crook was very pleased with the hundred we gave her.  Mr Crook sent me in a lovely bunch of roses last night.  They are expecting several people in today, since the Whiteleggs left on Friday there have been only four.

We are most interested to hear about the Manor & shall want to hear if the news is confirmed.  You have all been so good about writing, it is nice to get letters.

I can’t write any more, much love to you all from

Your loving wife

Eugénie N Sladden
