Blanche Edith GEPP (later CLEMENTS) (1884-1966)

Biographical Details

Blanche Edith Gepp (1884-1966) was the daughter of the Vicar of Badsey and was friendly with some of the Sladden children who were of a similar age.

Blanche Gepp was born on 17th June 1884 at Bradfield, Berkshire, the eldest of five children of the Reverend Charles Granville Gepp by his third wife, Alice (née Wallington).  She was baptized at Bradfield on 3rd July 1884.

When she was three years old, she moved with her family to Badsey Vicarage when her father became the Vicar of the parish.

They left the village in 1897 and moved to Wood Norton, Norfolk.  Blanche’s father died in 1903 when she was 18 years old and the family moved to 192 Unthank Road, Norwich.

In 1911, Blanche was sick nursing in St Pancras, London.  On 20th February 1915, Blanche was entered on to the Midwives’ Roll having passed the CMB examination.  She was then living at University College Hospital, Gower Street, London.

Blanche married James John H Clements in 1915.  They had one son, James Charles, born in Norwich in 1916.  In 1939 they were living at 20 Ampthill Street, Norwich.

Blanche’s husband died in 1957 in Norwich.  Blanche died on 20th December 1966 at Alderman Clarke House, Midland Street, Norwich.
