Historic Environment Record

The Worcestershire Historic Environment Record (HER) is the largest collection of archaeological information in the county with details of over 26,000 sites, buildings, finds and landscapes alongside information on past archaeological research and investigations. These records hold information on a vast and diverse array of archaeological remains, from Iron Age hill-forts to Second World War pillboxes. The HER is held in a database linked to a Geographical Information System (GIS), a computer mapping system designed to allow users to collect, manage and analyze large volumes of spatially referenced data.
