Badsey Society Newsletter No 25, July 2008

Description

Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Events: 2008 “Badsey Expedition”; up to date photographic survey of all properties in Badsey & Aldington. This will form part of Worcestershire Photographic Survey, last survey being undertaken in 1968. Since 1968 the number of houses in Badsey has doubled and some have disappeared. We went on Whit Walk starting at Monks Bridge to Wickhamford and back via Francis’ Grave. Future events: Badsey Flower Show showcasing display of photographs taken for 2008 Photographic Survey; Bob Brown of Cotswold Garden Flowers talking on “Clues in the Landscape” and The Badsey and Aldington Photo Survey Slide Show. We were able to supply copies of “Grain and Chaff from an English Manor” by Arthur Savory which had long gone out of print in UK but had been reprinted in USA. Finally Richard Phillips and Maureen Spinks represented the Society at finals of the Marsh Award for Community Archaeology held at Olympia. Each of four finalists gave presentation but winner could not be chosen so award prize money was increased and each finalist received £500. Thanks went out to everyone who had helped with project. Committee members: Will Dallimore (Chairman), Maureen Spinks (Secretary), Terry Sparrow (Treasurer), Ian Gibson, Mike Lovatt, Jane Neill, Richard Phillips, Neil Thould.
