That's Another Story: Julie Walters, The Autobiography

Description

The autobiography of Julie Walters – it was acquired for the Society to see if it mentioned her Badsey ancestry.  Unfortunately there was no mention.  We assume that she had no knowledge of her Badsey and Evesham ancestors.

Julie was born Julia Mary Walters in Smethwick in 1950, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Walters.  Julie’s paternal grandmother, Amy Selina (1883-1955), was the daughter of Badsey-born Stephen Crisp (1855-1925), who grew up at Gladstone Cottage (opposite The Spar) and attended Badsey School.

We had got wind of the fact that BBC “Who do you think you are?” researchers were looking into Julie Walters’ ancestry and that she had Badsey connections.  We suspected that the BBC might decide to concentrate on Julie’s more colourful Irish ancestry.  Sadly, we were quite right in that assumption – not a whisper of Badsey in the programme!
