1903 – Jan 17, memorandum from John Smith & Sons concerning the new church clock

Description

Letter to the Reverend W H Price from John Smith & Sons (Frank & John H Smith, Partners), Midland Team Clock Works, Queen Street & Market Place, Derby, Manufacturers by Special Machinery of every description of Clocks, Chimes, Carillons etc for Cathedrals, Churches, Stables, Railway Stations, etc - concerning the carpenter’s making of the case for the new clock:

Dear Sir

We think you may rest content that the clock will be finished by Feby 12th.  It is well in hand.

With regard to the case – the carpenter must work to our drawing especially as to the position of the beams.  The drawing he has sent shows the case exactly central with dial hole which would not do.  We have enclosed another tracing showing where a little projecting pipe may enclose the upper part of the bell rope.

 Soliciting your further favours

We beg to remain

Yours obediently

John Smith & Sons
