William Law Phelps of Evesham, gentleman, of the one part, Timothy Care of Westmancote in the parish of Bredon, yeoman of the other part, whereas by an indenture of mortgage dated 24th February 1814 between William Ballard of Badsey, gentleman, eldest son of the late William Ballard, gentleman, deceased, of the first part, Elizabeth Ballard of Badsey, widow, relict of the late William Ballard, of the second part, and the said William Law Phelps of the third part. In consideration of £400 paid to William Ballard and Elizabeth Ballard – took out a mortgage with William Law Phelps on 6th April 1815:
All that close, piece or parcel of pasture land called or known by the name of Netherfield Close containing 3a 2r 10p lately bought and purchased by the said William Ballard of and from Joseph Jones which said closes, pieces or parcels of land are situate lying and being in the parish of Badsey aforesaid and were then in the occupation of the said William Ballard and Elizabeth Ballard or their under-tenants and therein particularly described were demised, granted, bargained and sold by the said William Ballard and Elizabeth Ballard to the said William Law Phelps for the term of 500 years subject to a proviso for redemption.
