1 Pitchers Hill

Present-day address: James the Fish, 1 Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford

A former pub known as The Sandys Arms (closed in about 2013) built in the 1830s on the north side of Pitchers Hill; at that time, the main road ran right past its front door. A two-storey building with rendered and painted walls, gable roof tiled; extensions to north and east; on the south side, a large entrance porch with gable and dentil cornice. During the 19th century and early 20th century, as well as being a pub, it also operated as a wheelwright's shop. It is currently used by a company called James the Fish, an online supplier of frozen fish.
