John Stanley GREEN 1916-1917

John Stanley Green (1904-1988), known as Stanley, was born on 26th September 1904, the son of Alfred Joseph Green, a police sergeant, and his wife, Annie Elizabeth.  He entered Badsey Council School in October 1915, having previously been at school in Weston Subedge.  The family lived at Hopyard Villas, Bretforton Road, which was then the police station.  Stanley left Badsey School in September 1917 when he won a free place at secondary school.  The family left the village in June 1918; they moved to Evesham.

Stanley spent much of his working career in Nigeria.  His address in 1933 when he sailed for Port Harcourt was given as 22 Windsor Road, Evesham.  He died in the Bournemouth area in 1988, aged 84.
