1951 wedding – David Evans & Cynthia Stewart

The marriage of Cynthia Beryl Stewart (1927-1993) to David John Evans (1926-2001) at St James Church, Badsey, on 24th March 1951.

Cynthia was one of five children of Frederick Charles Henry Stewart (1897-1966) from his first marriage to Doris Nora Hampton (1903-1984) in St Lawrence Church in 1922. Doris is seated right and behind her the eldest son Frederick Donald Edmund Stewart (1925-1987), who gave the bride away.  David John Evans, a Welshman, was a highly respected Police Constable. He and Cynthia were to have two daughters who were born at the Police Station in Little Comberton.

Unfortunately Cynthia died in a car crash.  The Evesham Journal of 2nd September 1993 reported as follows:  “On Sunday afternoon 66-year-old Mrs. Cynthia Evans died after a three-vehicle crash at the Honeybourne crossroads at Weston Subedge, Gloucestershire.  Back seat passenger Mrs Evans of Fairways, Pershore, was certified dead on arrival at Cheltenham General Hospital.  Car driver Mr David Evans (67) and front seat passenger Mrs Jean Wilkinson (63) suffered whiplash and bruising.
