Commonwealth

Arranged by Rachel Davies

The Commonwealth is a voluntary body of 54 countries of which the Queen is Commonwealth Head.  The Queen has no power to govern but plays an important symbolic and unifying role across the Commonwealth.  She is a recognised Head of State for 14 member states, known as Commonwealth Realms, and including Australia and New Zealand.  The Queen has visited every Commonwealth country, except Rwanda and Cameroon (2 more recent additions) and has made multiple tours and visits.  In the 60s alone, the Queen visited 28 of the member countries.
