Pitchers Hill in 1938 - three men who later served in World War 2

This photograph shows, from left to right, John Collett, Harry Mason and Ron Hampton, with a pair of houses on Pitchers Hill in the background.  Ron Hampton lived in the one on the left-hand side - now 73 Pitchers Hill.  The picture was taken in August 1938 and all three men went on to serve in the 1939-45 War.  Harry Mason was in the Royal Corps of Signals, Ron Hampton in the R.A.F. and John Collett, whose family had left Wickhamford in the 1930s, was in the Durham Light Infantry, when he was killed in Italy on 15th December 1944.
