Sanctuary

Our guide, Abbey Marshal Howard, showed us the entrance to the place where Elizabeth Woodville, wife of Edward IV, is believed to have stayed when she sought sanctuary in Westminster Abbey.  Her son, the future Edward V, was born in 1470 whilst Elizabeth was in sanctuary.
