BADSEY MAN KILLED IN ACTION

News has been received at Badsey that Private Frank Blake was killed in action on July 30. The deceased soldier, who was 27 years of age, was the eldest son of Mr & Mrs Fred. Blake, of Arlesford, Hants, but had resided at Badsey for about eighteen years, and had a very large circle of friends in the district. He enlisted at Winchester at the outbreak of war in the 8th Battalion Rifle Brigade. Mr & Mrs Blake have two other sons serving with the colours, one in France and one training at Aldershot. This is the second loss the family has sustained, the eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs Blake having lost her husband in November last. A photograph of Private Blake will be given next week.
