Mr Sladden’s talented family, assisted by one or two friends, were responsible for some most enjoyable amateur theatricals which took place at the Old School on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with a matinee on Wednesday.  There were good audiences at the two evening performances (on the first night the room was crowded), but on Wednesday afternoon there was only a small attendance.  The whole of the work in connection with the performances, including the fitting up of the stage and the arrangement of the costumes, was done by the performers themselves, and the whole production reflected the utmost credit upon all concerned.  Some of the performers have appeared upon the stage before, but in the case of others this was their initial attempt; all however did exceedingly well.
