WEDDING OF MISS PAT BARNARD

At Evesham Register Office on Saturday, Miss Elizabeth Patricia Barnard, only daughter of Mr & Mrs F J Barnard of Chestnut Corner, Lanket Lane, Badsey, was married to Mr Frank Goldstraw, youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr A Goldstraw at Honeybourne.  After the official ceremony at the Register Office, a service of blessing was held at St James’ Church, Badsey, at which the Vicar, the Rev W B Chapman, officiated, with Mrs G W Marshall at the organ.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a fine cream wool dress and matching coat with petunia coloured accessories, and she carried a spray of mauve orchids.  She was attended by Miss Susan Barnard, her cousin who wore a charcoal grey suit with lamé green accessories.  Mr Albert Goldstraw, elder brother of the bridegroom, was best man.  A reception followed at the Northwick Arms Hotel, Evesham, where 90 guests were entertained, and later Mr & Mrs Goldstraw left for their honeymoon which is being spent touring the south of England.

The bride, a native of Badsey, received her early education at Badsey School and later at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Evesham, and Gipsy Hill Training College, London.  She is at present teaching at Badsey County Primary School.  Her other activities include membership of Evesham Hockey Club, Evesham, Young Growers’ Club and the Badsey Women’s Institute.  The groom served in the Middlesex Regiment and the RAOC.  He is a member of Honeybourne Football Club and a partner in the firs of G & S Goldstraw.  Mr & Mrs Goldstraw will make their future home at Chalcroft, Badsey.

The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a sewing cabinet and the bridegroom’s gift to the bridesmaid was a lapel brooch of diamante.  They were the recipients of numerous presents.
