The marriage took place on Saturday of Miss Lilian Maud, third daughter of Mr & Mrs F Jelfs of Fairview, Brewers Lane, and Mr John Henry, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr E Petty of Main Road, Ettington.  Canon Allsebrook officiated and the bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a dress of white satin with coronet of orange blossoms and a veil lent by her sister, Mrs Reeves.  The bride also wore white satin shoes and carried a sheaf of lilies.  She was attended by her two sisters, Marjorie and Annie, who wore dresses of cerise satin with silver headdresses and silver shoes and carried cerise handbags, the gifts of the bridegroom.  Mr H Collett of Ettington was the groomsman.  There was a fairly large assembly in the church.  Mr Sharp, the organist, played the Wedding March.  A reception was afterwards held at the home of the bride’s parents when upwards of 40 guests assembled.  The happy couple left early in the evening for their future home, Yew Tree Cottage, Main Road, Ettington.
