DIAMOND WEDDING
Today (Saturday) Mr & Mrs William Knight of Badsey celebrated their diamond wedding.  Mr & Mrs Knight were married at St John’s Church, Wickhamford, by the late Rev T H Hunt, the Vicar of Badsey, on August 16 1868.  Mrs Knight was the second daughter of the late Mr & Mrs William Crane of Wickhamford, while Mr Knight was the fourth son of the late Mr & Mrs Charles Knight of Badsey.  All their six children are still alive.  Mr & Mrs Knight have 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  Mr Knight has a brother and a sister alive and who, despite their old age, are quite well and hearty, and still live in Badsey.  Mr Knight has followed the occupation of a market gardener since the year 1887, but previous to that was in the employ of the late Mr John Nind at Wickhamford Manor Farm, earning a weekly wage of 10s.  Mr & Mrs Knight are both of the opinion that their long lives are due to the fact that in their younger days they grew corn and baked bread for their own use, and also to plenty of work in the open air.  A united gathering will be held at the residence of the happy couple.
