BADSEY WEDDING

The marriage was solemnised in St James’ Church on Saturday afternoon by the Rev D Trimmer of Miss Fanny Louisa Crane, third daughter of Mr & Mrs George Crane of 9 Synehurst, and Mr Reginald Frank Emms, third son of Mr & Mrs Thomas Emms of Avon Street, Evesham. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in an ankle-length dress of pink georgette with bell sleeves and cowl neck, and a large pink hat and shoes and gloves to tone.  She carried a bouquet of pink roses and maiden hair fern.  The gift of the bridegroom to the bride took the form of a brown suede handbag.  The two bridesmaids were Miss Zilla Crane and Miss Zena Crane (sisters) who wore ankle-length dresses of blue floral georgette with lemon sashes to match.  They also wore lemon coloured gloves and blue shoes and carried bouquets of lemon chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern.  They wore gold bracelets, the gifts of the bridegroom.  The bride’s mother wore a navy two-piece suit and the groom’s mother was dressed in brown.  As the happy couple left the church they were met at the door by Master Allen Briscoe, a nephew of the bride, who presented the bride with a silver horseshoe.  Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents and was attended by numerous guests.  The bride is a native of Badsey, being well known in the neighbourhood and having a wide circle of friends.  The bridegroom is well known for his prowess in the sports field.  For some years he was a member of the Evesham Boys’ Club.  At the present time he is on the staff of the SWS and is well known in the district.  Mr & Mrs Emms were the recipients of numerous useful and handsome presents, including a clock from the staff of the SWS.  Early on Sunday morning the newly-married couple left by car for Blackpool where the honeymoon is being spent.  The bride travelled in a wine-coloured dress over which she wore a tweed coat with hat to tone.  Upon their return they will make their future home at 36 Lime Street, Evesham.
