BADSEY WEDDING
The marriage of Miss Olive Myra Maria Hartwell, youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs T W Hartwell of Silk Mills, Badsey, to Mr Thomas Richard Bennett, eldest son of Mrs Allen Cole and the late Mr Thomas Bennett, Main Street, Offenham took place on Saturday at St James’ Church, Badsey.
The Vicar, Canon W C Allsebrook, officiated. The bride’s ankle-length dress was of white satin with a veil and wreath of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of dark red roses.
The bride was given away by her brother, Mr Edgar Hartwell, and she was attended by Miss Helen M Hartwell (niece), who wore an ankle-length dress of pale pink satin with veil and carried a bouquet of pink roses. She also wore a gold bangle, the gift of the bridegroom. The bride’s gift to the bridesmaid was a leather handbag.
The best man was Mr J Brown. The bride, who is well-known in the village, has been employed by Mr & Mrs Sydney Shovelton of Evesham for five years. The bridegroom has played cricket for Offenham. He has been employed by Mr Hector Smith for seven years.
The bride, on leaving the church, was presented with three silver horseshoes by Miss Pat Keen, Master Derrick Hartwell and Miss Doreen Harman.
A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a silver watch, and the bridegroom’s gift to the bride a fur coat.
