PRETTY WEDDING AT BIDFORD-ON-AVON
Mr A E Goddard and Miss K P M Knight

A wedding of considerable interest took place at Bedford Church last Satruday between Mr Albert Ernest Goddard, younger son of Mr & Mrs E J Goddard of Broom near Bidford-on-Avon and Miss Kathleen Patricia Mary Knight, only daughter of the late Mr Ernest and of Mrs Knight of Merville, Bretforton Road, Badsey.

The service, which was conducted by the Rev A W Harrison, was choral.  Mr Fred Salisbury was at the organ.

The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr George Knight, was charmingly attired in an ankle-length gown of white lace with veil and headdress of orange blossom.  She carried a bouquet of red carnations.

The bride was attended by Miss Betty Goddard (sister of the bridegroom) who wore a dress of emerald green taffeta with gold accessories and carried a bouquet of daffodils.  Mr John Goddard (brother of the bridegroom) was best man.

The reception was held at Broom Village Hall where 50 guests were present.

The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a cheque and to the bridesmaid a gold bangle.  The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a set of walnut back hair brushes.

The honeymoon is being spent at Cheltenham.

The bride’s bouquet was placed on her father’s grave at Bretforton.

The couple will make their future home at Woodfield, Oversley, near Alcester.
