Postcard with a photograph of the gathering at Seward House on 28th June 1927, on the occasion of Sir Julius Sladden’s 80th birthday. Sir Julius invited fellow parishioners of a similar age. A copy of the photo appears to have been given to each of the invited guests. This one was given to Elizabeth Hardiman (widow of James Hardiman). Sir Julius wrote on the back: “Mrs James Hardiman from Sir Julius Sladden, a remembrance of June 28 1927 at Seward House, Badsey.” Jabez (80) & Catherine Enstone (78) were also amongst the guests and, at some stage, the photo was given by the Hardiman family to the Enstone family. An Enstone family member (probably Thomas William Marshall) has written in pencil, “Granny Enstone seated middle?” Jabez and Catherine are believed to be seated third and fourth from left.
