The Lost Badsey Mill
There is no archaeological evidence for this as yet, but William Page, wrote the following in 1906 in Volume 2 of the Victoria County History of Worcestershire.
It is also recorded in The Historic Environment Record that is held at The Hive in Worcester.
It is reasonable to assume that this mill was adjacent to the Monks Path, and probably accounts for the double right hand turn in the course of the brook here.
In a medieval monastery, the steward was the equivalent of a Chief Financial Officer, He would oversee and make decisions about a monastery's properties, including lands, buildings and livestock, including supervising large building projects such as mills or barns.
The rent of 1 mark (2/3of £1) in the 12th century is equivalent to about £487 today, and in 1540, 24 shillings, the equivalent of £506, a substantial income.
