JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

The final meeting of the Jubilee Committee was held on Monday, Mr C A Binyon being in the chair.  The Hon Treasurer (Mrs H Idiens) produced the accounts, which showed that the total income amounted to £31 16s 3d, while the expenditure totalled £25 13s 7d, leaving a balance in hand of £6 3s 1d.  The Chairman said he thought this was an excellent result, but he now wanted to know what it was proposed to do with the balance.  He said that he had received several suggestions, such as providing a small playground for the young children, while in some villages, balances had been given to the Jubilee Fund, Nursing Association, or the like.  Another suggestion he had received was to put it towards a permanent memorial and raise extra money for the purpose.  Several suggestions as to the use of the balance were put forward, but after discussion it was proposed by Miss M Sladden, seconded by Mr G A King, and resolved that the money be held over until the winter months, when a special parish meeting be called to see if the parishioners were in favour of it going to a Village Hall Fund.
