ASTON SUBEDGE
WEDDING OF MISS L E SMITH

The marriage took place at St Lawrence’s Church, West Subedge, on Wednesday last week of Miss Lucia Ellen Smith, youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs Smith of Aston, and Mr Alfred Ernest Cull, second son of Mrs and the late Mr J E Cull of Badsey.  The ceremony was performed by the Rector (Rev R E Grice Hutchinson).  The bride was given away by her father.  She looked charming in an ankle length gown of ivory ninon and silk lace, set off by a delightful gold picture hat and gold brocade shoes.  A handsome gold necklet completed her toilette, and she carried a sheaf of lilies.  She was attended by two nieces, the Misses Gwendoline Allen and Gwendoline Buggin.  They wore pretty ankle length dresses of green chiffon, made with ermine-trimmed coatees.  Their picture hats and satin shoes matched their dresses, while jade necklaces, the gifts of the bridegroom, toned tastefully with the ensembles, which made a delightful background for their bouquets of gold tulips and maidenhair fern.  The bride’s mother wore a fashionable gown of black silk, while the bridegroom’s mother was becomingly attired in black and white silk.  The duties of best man were ably performed by Mr Aubrey Phipps of Bretforton.  After the ceremony over 70 guests were entertained at the home of the bride’s parents, where the tables were decorated with pink carnations, lilies and mimosa.
