MR G PERKINS OF BADSEY AND MISS BETTY SMITH OF EVESHAM

A pretty and popular wedding too place at All Saints’ Church on Tuesday afternoon, the contracting parties being Miss Betty Smith, youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs F Smith, 15 Mill Street, and Mr George (Dick) Perkins, third son of Mr & Mrs T Perkins, 15 Council Houses, Badsey.  The Rev G B Stubbs officiated, and the bride, who was given away by her father, made a charming picture.  Her dress was of ivory sued georgette, made with a shoulder cape and bow, hem and full cuffs of ivory silk lace, and finished at the waist with a diamanté buckle.  With this she wore and embroidered and scalloped veil of silk net with a wreath of orange blossom, and white satin shoes.  Her bouquet was of pink carnations and lilies of the valley.  The bridesmaids were Miss Nellie Smith (sister of the bride), Miss Connie Perkins (sister of the bridegroom).  They were prettily attired in dresses of new lido blue crepe de chine with bolero bodices under which lawn georgette formed a charming blouse effect.  Their crinoline hats were of lido blue trimmed with coloured posies, their necklaces (the gifts of the bridegroom) of blue venetian beads, and their bouquets of pink tulips.  Mr Fred Perkins, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man.  After the ceremony, a reception was held at 36 Mill Street, a large number of relatives and friends being entertained.
