FOOTBALL SECRETARY MARRIED – Mr R A Geden of the Offenham Club

Hon Secretary of Offenham Football Club and a well-known footballer in the Evesham district, Mr Reginald Albert Geden, youngest son of Mr and the late Mrs R Geden of Parks Farm, Aldington, was married in St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday to Miss Dorothy May Carter, elder daughter of Mr & Mrs W G Carter of Ivy Lane, Bretforton.

The bridegroom began his career as a footballer at the age of 11 years when he played for Bengeworth School.  Three years ago, on the disbanding of the Evesham Vale FC, of which he had been a member, he joined Offenham FC for whom he has played regularly ever since.

Given away by her father, the bride was charmingly attired in a powder blue georgette gown and a matching headdress.  She carried a sheaf of lilies.

The only attendant, Miss Evelyn Carter (sister) wore a pink ninon gown with a matching headband and carried a bouquet of yellow roses.

Mr A R Teague (Vice-Chairman of Offenham FC) was best man.

MANY PRESENTS

The Vicar, Canon W C Allsebrook, RD, performed the ceremony, and Mr A Sharp was the organist.

A large number of guests attended the reception.  Mr & Mrs Geden will make their home with the bridegroom’s father at Parks Farm, Aldington.

They received numerous useful and attractive presents including a dining-room clock with Westminster chimes from the players, committee and supporters of Offenham FC.  Gifts were also received from Mr & Mrs van der Beken, the bride’s employers and from Miss E M Burlingham by whom the bridegroom is employed as a gardener.
